Studio Mentality

Recently, my husband told me that something I’d done had buoyed his spirits and made him feel like we a “studio mentality” in our house.

Studio mentality?  What’s that?

It’s one of the benefits of working in a studio, alongside other artists.  Everyone’s doing the same thing, creating their art, pursuing their goals and that gives the collective a boost.  It makes everyone in the studio work that much harder on their own grind.

What a compliment!  My husband has never been shy with praise.  He definitely gives me my roses while I’m still alive to enjoy them, but sometimes the things he says can bowl me over.

Studio mentality.

Its sounds like a great mindset to be in.  To have your life and space be filled with people who are in pursuit of their own dreams and their efforts makes you want to move toward yours with that much more fervor.

If your studio is your inner circle, the people you trust the most, do they create a studio mentality?  Are they on a relentless journey toward their goals or are they more adept at shrugging their shoulders, proclaiming how it just can’t work out for them or anyone else.

Disciplined, dogged pursuit will get you where you need to go, but logic dictates that it would be easier if you don’t have the weight of the naysayers around your neck.

Studio mentality.

Learn it. Live it. Love it.  ;-)
