Why she’s a Brick Sandwich Woman of the Week:
If Lady Gaga flies, it’s on Grace Jones’ wind. She’s a fierce, ballsy, tree of a woman that doesn’t make any apologies for who she is. She likes men. She likes women. Like the rest of us, she’s trying to be the best person she can. She’s a mother and an artist. She’s been a “Bond Girl”. She was a Studio 54 regular. She speaks French, Spanish, Japanese, Italian and German. She’s infamously banned from all Disney properties for flashing her boob during a 2005 show. At 62, she’s still performing stage shows. She’s striking. She’s fabulous. She goes her own way. She’s rude and outrageous. She bristles against authority. She’s an icon.

Personal Quotes:

I felt that everyone was growing up in the world, except me. This is probably one of the reasons why I had such a rebellious attitude towards any form of authority. I also systematically associated authority with masculinity. With one exception: my great grandmother, who I actually saw chase and beat up my great uncle, the bishop of Jamaica. She was 98 at the time and 6 feet tall. Sure the bishop was her son, but still…"
"Everyone has to make their own decisions. I still believe in that. You just have to be able to accept the consequences without complaining."

"If you're out there you're vulnerable. People prefer to disappear in life, to repress their personality. That's not living. It's dying. I see them all over the place, the walking dead."

"I've always been a rebel. I never do things the way they're supposed to be done. Either I go in the opposite direction or I create a new direction for myself, regardless of what the rules are or what society says."
