“So over you is the greatest enemy a man can have and that is fear. I know some of you are afraid to listen to the truth – you have been raised on fear and lies. But I am going to preach to you the truth until you are free of that fear…” - Malcolm X
Raise your hand if you’re living your dream life.
Anyone?
Is it even half or a quarter of the life you dreamt of?
Do you hate your job? Do you live for weekends and vacations?
Do you sometimes wake up and wonder what in the hell happened to you?
Well, what are you waiting on? Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have all the time in the world. It feels that way though, doesn’t it? Every morning we open our eyes and get out of bed. You know that somewhere, out in the world someone else did not. Yesterday was their last day on earth. But that’s them, right? That’s other people. Not you. But one day, it will be. One day you will wake up and it will be the last day of your life. Maybe that day is in a week. Maybe it’s in 40 years from now. That’s the rub – you don’t know.
From the day you were born, the date of your death was imprinted on you. Each day we live is one less day have to do what we came here to do. Death is coming for all of us. This should not be feared; it’s the logical conclusion to life. This is not sad. What is sad is getting to that moment when it’s clear that this life is over and wishing for more time – because you feel like you haven’t even gotten started.
“You have to let it go, Neo. Fear, doubt, disbelief. Free your mind.” –Morpheus, The Matrix
No more wasting time. I’ve decided to have the audacity to live. Not simply exist, but live. Throw myself wholeheartedly into the pursuit of what I want, without fear.
Other people aren’t going to get it. Tough titty. None of these people will be around when the movie of my life is being reviewed in Judgment City. One thing I know for sure is, nothing can placate regret.
I realize now that any limits I may have assumed before now were products of my imagination. They are gone. The word impossible has been removed from my vocabulary.
No more waiting for the right time. The right time is now.
Brick Sandwich’s foundation rests on the premise that you can do anything you want. Period. If you can imagine yourself doing it, it can be done. It’s not magic. It’s not wishing. It’s a fact. No more time to waste, let's get to it.
"I had reached the point at which I was not afraid to die. This spirit made me a freeman in fact, while I remained a slave in form. -Frederick Douglass
