Inspiration through the eyes of Picasso

"Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working." - Pablo Picasso

When it comes to inspiration, expectations are simply too high.

Inspiration simply opens the door. We have to walk through. Making a plan, accomplishing the goal – the sacrifice and the effort – that’s our part.

Being inspired is one of the most awesome feelings in the spectrum of human emotion. Ideally, inspiration would come at us from all sides - morning, noon and night.  Maybe for you it’s a song, a book, a quote or a movie. As soon as you see, hear or read it, you feel like you can conquer the world, anything you set your mind to can be accomplished. Excellent!

What happens on the days when the mojo doesn’t work? When the words to the song don’t sound the same on Tuesdays? What do you do then?

Discipline begins where inspiration ends. I would love to live each day being inspired to be my best self, but life doesn’t work that way. Sometimes getting to that happy place or productive place or functional place requires more than inspiration, it’s actually just putting one foot in front of the other and hoping that inspiration eventually catches up.

This is how things get done.  Those that are waiting on inspiration to prompt them out of bed are really still waiting.

No more waiting for me. How about you?
